Mind-Body Wellness

Why Acorn?

We chose the Acorn to represent our wellness space because the Acorn represents so many things and is analogous to the way compassion, kindness, gratitude, and healing can grow to become self-compassion, self-kindness, gratitude, and self-healing - from an Acorn to an amazing, unique, and intricate oak tree - deeply rooted and growing in the direction of the light provided - grounded, stable, and symbiotically existing - thriving.

Each moment of each day you are presented with a choice - this instance is the beginning of the rest of your life. At this moment you are that Acorn... you have limitless growth potential.

Unlike the Acorn you can choose where and how you will be nurtured toward growth. You can shape your growth by providing yourself with the nourishment you need to grow in the best direction for you to heal throughout each season.

We invite you to experience your life rooted in a place grounded in a rich foundation of nurturing, healing, and thriving.

Let's grow together!

Dr. Christopher Stewart, DC

Dr. Christopher Stewart, DC

The body is interconnected. It is resilient. It has evolved to withstand trauma in such a way that it absorbs it - we survive, but not without consequences. Muscles are connected to bones that connect to other muscles from the tip of our toes to the top of our heads. Our bodies respond to injury by accommodating and adapting. New movement patterns are formed. We develop imbalances, then heal and regrow on top of a misaligned framework, locking in these pathological patterns. It takes work to realign that framework, achieve balance, and optimize movement patterns.

Dr. Stewart earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Bachelor of Art in Psychology.

Dr. Stewart performed his internship in Portland at Outside In, Men’s Volunteers of America facility, and at the University of Western States Campus Health Center.  He went on to perform his preceptorship at The Wellness Center PDX, where he was hired as an associate Chiropractic Physician, performing thousands of chiropractic procedures. He is excited to build his integrative practice with his lifelong companion Angee Gilchrist (Licensed Professional Counselor).

Dr. Stewart is a lifelong learner who stays on top of the latest breakthroughs in nutrition, health & wellness, and Mind-Body Medicine. In addition to Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Human Biology, Dr. Stewart is currently working on his Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University.

Dr. Stewart grew up in the Chicago area and later moved to Arizona, San Diego, New Mexico, and then to the Portland, Oregon area. He enjoys travel, camping, hiking, biking, cooking, and home beer-brewing.

As a Chiropractic Physician, Dr. Stewart performs spinal manipulation, as well as manipulation of the extremities, physiotherapy, soft tissue manipulation, cupping, massage, nutrition counseling, aromatherapy,  vitamin and botanical supplements, nasal specific, endonasal technique.

Customized, immediate treatment for individuals provided by:
Angee Gilchrist-Stewart, MA, LPC, NCC

EMDR intensives support busy folks who are ready to move forward now.

Today’s model of psychotherapy can shift to meet your specific needs. Often, we need flexibility in how we get support.

Have you been wanting to get into weekly therapy for a while now, but your schedule is hectic and demanding, and a weekly therapy appointment feels more overwhelming than supportive?

Maybe you don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better.

EMDR intensives offer you a personalized treatment plan that allows you to skip the waitlist by giving you faster access to select spots designed to quickly support you and your treatment goals.

EMDR treats more than trauma! EMDR can provide performance enhancement to excel in areas such as athletics, academics, business, and relationships.

Angee offers EMDR intensives for current clients who want extra support and new clients who prefer to work intensively. EMDR with Angee is done virtually, often for 4-9 sessions. Each session will be 1.5 to 2 hours.

* A consultation to assess for candidacy and identify unpleasant beliefs, body sensations, emotions, or images that you have been struggling with.
* A customized treatment plan with targeted treatment goals.
* Extended sessions beyond the traditional 50 minutes offered in standard therapy.

* An assessment, additional resources, and support for your adaption to positive changes from treatment.

Collaborative EMDR as Adjunct Therapy

Perhaps you’ve had a sense that something more needs to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist. Angee offers collaborative EMDR adjunct therapy.

Everyone has those moments in therapy where we feel stuck on issues related to negative life experiences. This can be discouraging for a client. When this happens, the primary therapist and client may decide to collaborate with an EMDR therapist. This integrative partnership can help move treatment forward.

Angee partners with primary therapists and their clients to target their clients’ specific memories, body sensations, or limiting beliefs with EMDR. EMDR desensitizes traumas and phobias that interfere with a client’s therapeutic gains
By targeting specific memories or thoughts, brief adjunct EMDR can accelerate progress in traditional therapy to help the client, and their primary therapist resolve stuck issues which allows them to move forward in their ongoing work.

Adjunct therapy does not replace or interrupt ongoing therapy; it supplements the primary therapeutic relationship while clients receive ongoing treatment with their regular therapist.

Adjunct EMDR therapy takes place over four to twelve 1.5-2 hr sessions. Treatment success is based on clearly defined goals for the EMDR therapist that are defined in collaboration with the primary therapist and client.

The Oak Tree
by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr.

A mighty wind blew night and day.
It stole the Oak Tree’s leaves away.
Then snapped its boughs
and pulled its bark
until the Oak was tired and stark.

But still the Oak Tree held its ground
while other trees fell all around.
The weary wind gave up and spoke,
How can you still be standing Oak?”

The Oak Tree said, I know that you
can break each branch of mine in two,
carry every leaf away,
shake my limbs and make me sway.

But I have roots stretched in the earth,
growing stronger since my birth.
You’ll never touch them, for you see
they are the deepest part of me.

Until today, I wasn’t sure
of just how much I could endure.
But now I’ve found with thanks to you,
I’m stronger than I ever knew.
